House of Jasmines

SALTA, ARGENTINA

Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Andes where rugged red cliffs meet azure blue skies lies the House of Jasmines. A short drive away from the colonial city of Salta, this boutique estancia is Raoul and Stéphanie Fenestraz’s second property in Argentina, bought from the American actor Robert Duvall in 2007. With help from local craftsman Raoul and Stéphanie refurbished the existing 18th Century building and added two extra casas to house its Junior Suites and Suites.

Reached via an avenue of Eucalyptus trees, House of Jasmines is no longer a working estancia yet still retains all of its elegant character with its white washed walls and cosy yet chic interiors. Its rooms and suites all feature ample living space, some with terracotta tiled floors and some wooden, with cream painted walls and splashes of warm colour throughout. Suites boast breathtaking views of the Andes, particularly jaw dropping in the mornings when the mountains are lit up in hues of pink.

Its renowned restaurant La Table serves typical Argentine cuisine which emphasises local ingredients and highlights the rich culinary heritage of the region.

Days can be spent relaxing in the idyllic garden by the pool or in the spa, and there are a host of activities available within the estancia’s grounds. Further afield, the striking natural beauty of the surrounding landscapes offer incredible opportunities for adventure and discovery.

"Most romantic hotel ever: House of Jasmines, in Salta. Everything smells deliciously of, yes, flowering jasmine, and there are roses in every room."

Cuisine

With its large open fireplace, “La Table” is very well known and is one of the most famous restaurants in the region. Serving traditional Andean cuisine using local and seasonal ingredients - much from their own organic garden - La Table offers its guests a complete garden to table experience. Popular also with non hotel guests, every first Saturday of the month it transforms into a Jazz Club where diners can enjoy a live show along with their meal. The extensive wine list includes the best wines from local bodegas to boot.

“The House of Jasmines is a warm, relaxed place where time practically stands still, and while the kitchen resembles that of any ranch, with homemade bread always baking in the oven and traditional, sit-down meals, no one cares if you’d rather sleep through breakfast. Just don’t sleep through lunch — an elaborate Argentine asado (barbecue), especially when served al fresco in the garden, is a culinary experience that you won’t soon forget.”
